Project approved to develop Buddhist circuit under Swadesh Darshan scheme

Context
Recently, under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the Department of Tourism has approved Rs 325.53 million projects to develop a Buddhist circuit.
About the Swadesh Darshan Scheme
- Sweden Darshan, the Central Sector Scheme, was launched in 2014 -15 to promote the integration of major tourism circuits in the country.
- Under this program, the Department of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) assistance to State Governments / Area Managers for the development of circuit infrastructure.
- One of the aims of the scheme is to develop a context-based tourism circuit with the principles of high tourism, competitiveness and sustainability in an integrated manner.
Tourist circuits
- A tourist Circuit is defined as a route on which at least three major tourist destinations are located such that none of these are in the same town, village or city.
- At the same time they are not separated by a long distance.
- Under the program, following development districts have been identified namely;
- North-Eastern Circuit
- Buddhist Circuit
- Himalayan Circuit
- Coastal Circuit
- Krishna Circuit
- Desert Circuit
- Tribal Circuit
- Eco Circuit
- Wildlife Circuit
- Rural Circuit
- Sufi Circuit
- Spiritual Circuit
- Ramayana Circuit
- Heritage Circuit
- Tankara Circuit
