Context
The Union Government is considering increasing the cost of deep sea fishing units under the Palk Bay program to make it more attractive to fishers folks.
About the Scheme
- The program - the separation of fishing vessels from the Palk Straits into deep-sea fishing vessels - aims to encourage fishers to take up deep-sea fishing and to resolve conflicts between the two countries.
- The program, under the auspices of the Blue Revolution - funded by the institution - 50 per cent and the national government - 20 per cent on a boat worth $ 80.
