On November 10, 2021, the Union Cabinet chaired approved the declaration of November 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.

- The day was declared as a part of year-long celebration of 75 years of India’s independence, in a bid to commemorate brave tribal freedom fighters.
- November 15th also marks the birthday of Birsa Munda who is considered to be the God of the tribal community in India.
- Birsa Munda has played a key role in India's independence by fighting against the exploitation of the British colonial system.
- He belonged to the Munda tribe and spearheaded an Indian tribal religious Millenarian movement in the late 19th century across the tribal belt of present-day Bihar and Jharkhand.
Janjatiya Gaurav Divas
- The Janjatiya Gaurav Divas will be considered in memory of the tribal freedom fighters.
- It will make future generations aware of the sacrifices made by the tribal freedom fighters of the nations during India's independence movement.
