- National mineral development corporation became the first company in iron ore production by producing 40million tonnes of iron ore in a year.
- It also set a target of becoming a 100 MT per annum company by 2030.

- It is the single largest iron ore producer in India.
- It owns and operates highly mechanized iron ore mines in Chattisgarh and Karnataka areas.
- Its headquarter is located in Hyderabad.
- NMDC is also known in the world as one of the low-cost producers of iron,
- It is also setting up a 3MT integrated steel plant at Nagarnar,Chattisgarh.
