Microsoft has unveiled a Mixed Reality platform by the name MESH, with the ability for holoportation for individuals

What is Mixed Reality?

• Mixed Reality is a blend of physical and digital worlds, unlocking the links between human, computer, and environmental interaction.
• This new reality is based on advancements in computer vision, graphical processing power, display technology, and input systems.
• The application of Mixed Reality has gone beyond displays to include:
  • Environmental input
  • Spatial sound
  • Locations and positioning in both real and virtual spaces
    

What is holoportation?

• Holoportation is a new type of 3D capture technology that allows high-quality 3D models of people to be reconstructed, compressed, and transmitted anywhere in the world in real-time. 
• When combined with mixed reality displays, this technology allows users to see, hear, and interact with remote participants in 3D as if they are present in the same physical space
• Communicating and interacting with remote users becomes as natural as face-to-face communication.
  

Other types of reality

• Virtual Reality: It is a computer-generated simulation in which a person can interact within an artificial three-dimensional environment using electronic devices, such as special goggles with a screen or gloves fitted with sensors.

• Augmented Reality: It is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory, and olfactory.
