According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low pressure area is expected to form over the Arabian Sea and is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm.

About the likeliness of Cyclone due to low pressure

• A low pressure area is very likely to form over the southeast Arabian Sea which is likely to move north-northwestwards across southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area and intensify gradually.
• The regions have put on yellow and Orange alerts.
• The low Pressure areas provide and ideal ground for the development of cyclones.

• It rotates counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.
