Context
The International Criminal Police Organisation, or Interpol, has reportedly sent back India's request to issue a Red Notice against Khalistan separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
The matter
- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is the national central bureau of India to liaison with the Interpol, had sent the request of National Investigation Agency seeking Red Notice against Pannun.
- However, it was returned with further queries.
- Interpol also raised concerns over the “misuse" of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) to target minority groups and rights activists without “respecting" their right to due process and a fair trial.

- It was formed in 1923 as the International Criminal Police Commission, and started calling itself Interpol in 1956.

General Assembly
The General Assembly is Interpol’s supreme governing body, which meets annually and each member country is represented by one or several delegates who are typically Ministers, chiefs of police, Heads of their INTERPOL National Central Bureaus and senior ministry officials.
