India has officially joined the High Ambition Coalition (HAC) for the Nature and People, a group of more than 70 countries advocating for the adoption of a global goal of 30x30 protection.
About
- The High Ambition Coalition (HAC) for the Environment and Humanities is a sub-national group of 70 countries comprising Costa Rica and France and the United Kingdom as Chair of the Ocean.
- Supports an international environmental agreement with people with a moderate goal of protecting at least 30 percent of the world's oceans by 2030.
30x30 is the aim of the federation to promote an international agreement to protect at least 30 percent of the world's land and sea by 2030.

Membership
- HAC members currently include a combination of northern and southern countries, Europe, Latin America, African and Asian countries.
- India is the first BRICS member (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) to join HAC.
