About the Alligator Gar

  • The alligator gar ((Atractosteus spatula)is a ray-finned euryhaline fish that is the largest species in the gar family.
  • It is one of the largest freshwater fishes in North America.
  • Alligator gar is an aquarium fish and grown for aquarium.
  • They become too big to handle and consume a good amount of food. That’s why were left in lakes.
  • Threat: They are predatory, and are capable to wipe out the entire lake of its biodiversity.
