- European Union Environment Ministers signed an agreement in Luxembourg to make EU’s 2050 net-zero emissions target legally binding on the states.
- The 2050 net-zero emission targets involves the entire EU. According to it, if one country creates higher emissions other will have to chop the emissions.
- To achieve the net-zero emission goal, actions on all parts of the public and economic sectors namely, power sector, industry, mobility, agriculture, buildings and forestry becomes necessary.
- India also has it own Intended NDC (INDC):
- To decrease the emissions potency of the GDP by about a third.
- A total of 40 percent of the installed size for electricity will be from non-fossil fuel sources.
- India also assured an extra carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equal through extra forest and tree cover by 2030.
