A New Digital platform 'CO-WIN' is being used for COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery

What is CO-WIN?

• It is a mobile application based platform to record vaccine delivery data for COVID-19. This app will be useful for all those engaged in the process such as administrators, vaccinators and people who are going to receive these vaccine shots.

Why the app has been developed?

• When such a huge vaccination drive is taken up, it becomes necessary to have institutional mechanisms at the level of States, Districts and Blocks that will inspect and supervise the entire process.
• There are five modules in Co-WIN app: Administrator module, registration module, vaccination module, beneficiary acknowledgement module and report module.
• The app will also send real-time data of the temperature of the cold-storage units to the main server.
• The huge amount of data which roughly includes one crore healthcare workers, two crore frontline workers and 27 crore of prioritised age groups will be included in this app data.
