Reasoning Section has always been a double-edged sword in all Bank Exams. Lets look at the breakup of questions in this section for the last year in all the slots.
From the last article on IBPS which showed the sectional cut-off at around 9, and if you relate that with the table above you can clearly frame a strategy to score those 9 marks. It all appears in hindsight, but since the general level was high, lets see a method to score 14-15
1. On an average 4 puzzles came in each slot except on Oct-14 Slot-2, your aim should be to select 2 puzzles based on your comfort factor and crack them investing a minimum of 10-12 mins.
2. Your next strategy will be to select at least 6 questions from the remaining 14-15. Here selection will depend on your strength in a particular topic. Choose the miscellaneous question as they are sure shot questions and a little concentration will allow you to get the 1st 3 marks of your target. The next 3 marks is a game of pure strength in a particular topic as well doing question by option elimination if all the topics fall in your weak areas, which I am sure will not happen.
3. Attempt the topic tests on our platform and see where you stand in your preparation level.
4. Try to gauge the difficulty level of a section and plan your attempts accordingly. It doesn't make sense to attempt more when the difficulty level is high, because of negative marking. This will come by experience.
More strategies in my next article.
Verifying, please be patient.
